The CAFMET is a non-profit organization. It was created on March 31th, 2005 in order to meet the needs of African firms and laboratories in Metrology.
For the economic and industrial development of the countries,it is important that quality and metrology skills are recognized. The CAFMET therefore contributes to the recognition of these.
CAFMET's missions are of interest to all continents, all persons and firms wishing to contribute to the development of African countries and the exchange of good practices between all countries.
CAFMET is supported by several organizations, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA).
A member of CAFMET can be from industry, university, laboratory, ... The association is aimed at any organization or anyone interested in the fields of quality and measurement. Created in April 2005, CAFMET has today become a recognized international network thanks to all its actions undertaken.
